Any & all tips, suggestions and sympathy would be appreciated right about now, Internet. The kid has become a little monster, gnawing and chomping on everything.

OH, and people, what in the world do you do to explain to a 6 month old who doesn’t understand language, that BOOBS ARE NOT FOR BIGHTING????

my parents rubbed whiskey or brandy on our gums. :)

curious about something–what’s the ‘1355′ hidden in the swirly part of your banner?

BTW–I love your photos. Your baby is Gerber-baby kind of cute and the one of you and your husband was really neat too!

As far as teething goes, I recommend those frozen teething rings, Ambesol gel and occassionally tylenol. Also, if he gets very fussy, take him in and have his ears checked. My son got ear infections any time he got new teeth in. The doctor said there’s no connect, but it was like clockwork. My daughter has been more fortunate, but is still working on her eye teeth and STILL chews on everything!

I’ve heard there are some sort of teething rings that you put in the freezer, possibly made of rubber, I can’t remember. We didn’t have them, but I had some friends who thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. Worth a look around Babies R Us anyway. We mostly hunkered down and suffered through it, so at least here’s some sympathy for you: sympathy.

Ha ha! Jillian, you know I’d never noticed that–it’s the elevation of a mountain on that portion of the topography map I used…from some place in northern vt..

Take a little tiny baby sock, insert one ice cube, tie off top, present to screaming child. Wa la.

    Hyland’s teething tablets.

Let me know if he starts biting while nursing, I got a fix for that as well and no, it does not include weaning.

Good luck, mama! It’s a very “special” time.

The rubber teething rings you can buy and put in the freezer are excellent. Forget about the big popsicle looking ones they sell, the circular soft rubber ones seem to be the best.

Here in Switzerland the folk medicine is an amber necklace for the teething child. Not for him to chew on, just to wear. I got one for my teething son - two teeth poked through in one night. I’d love to tell you how it’s working, but I lost it already. Stella’s Mami at http://swisslovebaby.blogspot.com has a picture of her daughter wearing one.

We have a water filled teething ring for my son and a gel-filled one. The gel-filled stays cooler longer. I don’t freeze them, though (either water or gel) because I think that makes them too hard. Just the fridge for us.

I actually had an amber necklace, I think as a baby. My parents were very German in how they raised me… Any ideas about where I can get one here? I’m all about trying the non-traditional. Folk remedies seem often to work just as well, if not better, than traditional stuff..
