Small good things
Posted on | November 19, 2005 |
I accomplished something nearly impossible today: I found a pair of jeans that fit my silly long legs!
I bought my first pomegranate of the season, and type with bright red juice staining my cuticles.
I went for a run in the cold for the first time all week. I’ve missed it. My body thrives on the rhythm of running and breathing.
I got an extra hour of sleep this morning—while DH read the newspaper and watched Bean.
I taught Bean how to sign *milk* this week—he caught on faster than I ever imagined he would—and it’s made things so much simpler. We’ve avoided several typical meltdowns because he can convey what he wants.
I got a cup of Old World hot chocolate walking back from dinner out tonight. It’s thick and rich and dark and unbelievably good, especially on a cold evening.
I decided to trust that the house thing will work out. And didn’t think about it again all day.

silly long legs??? You lucky cow. I have the opposite problem with my silly short legs.
hot chocolate on a cold cold day, perfect. It’s got to be Starbucks for me, not having Old World over here (but it sure sounds good)…

How do you sign milk?

re the ‘not thinking’ about it…there’s an old 12-step saying about ‘letting go of the outcome.’ It’s a tricky balancing act, that…if one is to do it well…to reach a place where one can let go of the result…while remaining open to the possibilities. I’m guessing you’re there.
Old World? Never heard of it…but I’m definitely checking it out. And jeans…for me, nothing makes me feel better than a pair of jeans that really FIT.

Rocking day, yo. When I find jeans that fit, I buy multiple pairs, while doing a sacrificial jeans dance to the denim gods.
And lizardek, you sign milk by opening and closing your hand like you’re milking a cow. It’s a great first sign and so cute to watch the little boos frantically opening and closing while reaching and bouncing! I love baby sign language!

I’m thanking you for the jeans tip, too. I can NEVER find jeans that are long enough, particularly if I want to wear heels with them. I’m incredibly short waisted and it’s annoying.
And I’m thinking good thoughts on your behalf for the house. It’s a buyer’s market, right? Right?

Old World hot chocolate? That sounds interesting…

Lucinda–I’m SO short waisted. That’s at least half of my problem. So yeah, long enough for heels is nearly impossible.
And Jon, I added the link for the hot chocolate–it’s better of course when they make it fresh from real melted chocolate, which they do in the store…but this is almost as good!

oh yummyyummy yummy-iciousness!!!! So glad you are in such a good feeling place– and I ditto Marilyn, pulling on a great pair of jeans can make the whole day great!

Alright, you found the jeans! Although I can’t say I pity you the long legs, babe.

How long are the longest inseams in these jeans? I saw the site and they look really great, but I almost never find them long enough. (Have a persimmon, too — my son and I have been gobbling them up the last few days.)

Hmm, I think 34–but maybe they have 36 too? 34 is jusssst a teeny bit too long, but perfect with the right boots/heels.
