Delight
Posted on | January 19, 2006 |
In the Artist’s Way this week it says: “The quality of life is in proportion, always, to the capacity for delight.”
Here are my reasons for delight:
*I went on an artist’s date to the grocery store last night and let myself revel in the scent of mangos, the big glass jugs of milk, the ripe avocados. In line I ate raspberry chocolate. And the best part? It was just me.
* We bought our house yesterday, in the middle of torrential rain. It is officially ours!
* Today it is sunny and DH’s parents have arrived to help us with babysitting and initial demolition for renovations.
Indigo Leaf Magazine has been launched and I’m so excited to be a contributor!
The Mama Says Om STORE is open, and the t-shirts are fantastic!

Congratulations on the house! Demolitions already?! Amazing how fast you are moving along. I enjoyed your submission to Indigo Leaf and learning more about your 2005. Made me want to tackle some of the same questions, to reflect more on the past year. Thanks!

Indigo Leaf was fabulous! What a treat, and especially YOU. (And I’ve just realized we’re the same age. Funny, I was thinking you were a wee bit older as you seem so wise. And your dad was a pastor?)
And YAY and whoops and hollers - you’ve got a HOUSE. Your very own HOME! How fabulous. Oh, it’s gonna be a very good year.

Christina, your article was beautifully written … reading your description of your art lessons from De Guevara made me feel I was right there with you. Your writing style is conversational, descriptive and very personal, but not so personal that I couldn’t relate. I also grew up in a family that didn’t have the means to provide art lessons. Even so, my father encouraged me as an artist by giving me similar art-supply-gifts: sketchbooks, pastel sets, an easel, trips to art galleries, and the National Museum of Art in D.C. The Wyeths were on my list of favorite artists, too. So I can relate to your memories.
Mostly, your article is a window into who you are as an artist … and an inspiration to many people who will read it. Indigo Leaf looks like an amazing online magazine. I will check it regularly.
