I need your help

Posted on | April 28, 2006 |

I’m ashamed to admit–I actually know next to nothing about web design and I barely understand how my publishing platform works. Are you surprised? Yeah, I’d like to learn–but seriously, where would the time for that to be found?

So instead of learning, today I am begging. If someone has the fancy shmancy web skills to help me integrate a gallery to display my artwork into wordpress, I’d grovel willingly at their feet. Doesn’t sound enticing enough? I can throw in a year of free hosting from Wired Hub. Better?

Email me if you’re interested.

And for everyone else, this is the best I could do. Enjoy.

I think it works just fine — it fits into your current design, without going over your margins or pushing anything out of wack (at least looking at it on MAC Safari.) I spent some time looking around WordPress yesterday, there might be something, a gallery that someone else has already coded and you could incorporate it into your current design. By the way, do you like WordPress? Was it easy to get started?

And I’m going to email you about the one with the hummingbird. I LOVE that one!

Christina, I have NO idea how to do anything other than you did (which, btw, looks alright..but I understand that you might want to make it snazier)…ok I digree.

The real reason I wanted to post a comment was to congratulate you on beautiful artwork and this new venture! have a good weekend!

Check out the knitting gallery on my site and if you like it, I can easily do something like that for your art work. I have one permanent page with thumbnails that link to a bigger piture/post about the knitted item.

I don’t want free hosting from you or anything. I just like your site, and wouldn’t mind helping out.

But if you get an offer from someone who really knows what they are doing and can make it look hot- totally go with it.

Christina.. can you believe your 1 year anniversary is coming up for mytopography.com?

If you don’t get a better offer, bug me again around 5/5 and I’ll try to help :)

Hi Christina, I love your blog and look forward to new posts. Your writing and artwork are beautiful.

I too use Wordpress and am on the hunt for a good gallery plugin (there must be one out there!). I currently have my folio presented using a free flash programme called ‘Simpleviewer’ and I just have the links to the folio in my sidebar. On my daughters website I use a wordpress plugin called Lazyest Gallery which suits that purpose but isn’t the most pretty thing. (you can add captions etc…I’ve just been too lazy!)
If you want more details I will dig them out!

Hope you find something that shows off your artwork appropriately!

    Christina - try this:

It comes with a tutorial, and it looks great. Jol uses it to showcase his guitar designs, and when I have the time, I’m going to use it on my website. You can see how he’s used it (link below), but it can be modified to look the way you want:

Oh…I just saw that Susannah recommended the same thing.
