5 Things I enjoyed today
Posted on | November 23, 2006 |
1) My two very best friends in the whole wide world arrived on my doorstep today, bearing flowers and hugs.
2) The pure bright sunshine of today, and the way the clouds spread out perfectly at sunset in ribbons of red and pink against the blue bowl of the sky.
3) Dinner where everyone was talking and laughing and listening and eating all at once.
4) Making pumpkin pie late at night, and going to bed with its spicy fragrance wafting through the house.
5) Watching Bean lie down in the bathtub and kick and splash.
What are 5 things you enjoyed today?

1. Grocery shopping, slowly, picking out special things for those who will be sitting at my table — all with a Starbucks Egg Nog Latte in my hand…
2. The flickering candles that danced across the living room, surrounding me with peace.
3. The wonderful smells as I began making tomorrow’s stuffing and apple turnovers.
4. Listening from the kitchen to my daughter and grandson laughing and tickling each other as they celebrate “four wake ups” together, no work, no school.
5. Cuddling our ten pound doxie in my recliner, content tonight that the journey continues…

Hmmm. This is yesterday’s list and part of this morning.
1. Ditching all the things I was *supposed* to be doing (i.e. cooking, cleaning) to go on a long hike in the woods with my kids.
2. Discovering a world of rock sculptures in the woods. Amazing.
3. Watching my kids slurp spaghetti at supper.
4. A lot of bedtime snuggling.
5. Getting up early this morning to make fresh cranberry sauce and watching the cranberries pop in the pan.
Looking forward to more enjoyment today. Thanks for your blog!

Well, I’ll write about yesterday since it was the best day EVER!!
1. Getting a job offer that I’ve been waiting forever for!!!
2. Having my son run into my arms at the end of the day at the daycare.
3. Drinking a glass of a good, robust red wine to celebrate!!
4. Having my boss (whom I had to tell over email that I was quitting because he’s working in Africa at the moment) phone me at home at 7pm even though it was midnight for him to congratulate me and tell me how much he has appreciated my work over the past few years.
5. Falling asleep the three us (my husband, son and me) snuggled in bed together

Well, I’ll use yesterday instead of today (11.27.06)
1. Feeling better after contracting the stomach flu. I knew because I was drooling while watching Top Chef.
2. Giving my nephew a bath and seeing how much he enjoyed it and seeing his dark and long eyelashes covered with droplets of water. So cute.
3. Spending quality time with my sister. It doesn’t happen very often.
4. Missing a day of work. Gotta love those days even if most of it was filled with sleeping.
5. Going through my Black Friday purchases and dreaming of how the family member will look when they open them.

Belated reply, I know.
5 things I enjoyed about today (December 1):
1. Moving my calendar (Anne Geddes) to a new page at work — and looking at the sweet baby all day.
2. Leaving work on time for the first time all week — so that I was home in the late afternoon with my daughters.
3. Watching the American Girl movie “Molly” with my girls and bawling my way through it.
4. Staying up later than my whole family — so I had some quiet time before bed.
5. Listening to my new Sarah McLachlan “Wintersong” CD over and over and over today. I highly recommend it.
