More up down
Posted on | March 22, 2007 |
So I’m going with the co-sleeping-ish arrangement for now. Which is what we’ve been doing, and it works fine except for when he’s ansy and can’t lie still and insists on holding my cheek pressed against his cheek, and howling “Mama TURN OVER” when I roll the other way. But. So. Well. We’ll keep trying because it seems that’s the only thing we can do, seeing as we adore the pants of him as it is.
Other things:
I had a great hair day today. I never have good hair days, and today, all sorts of perfect luscious shine and bounce and complements.
It’s 40 degrees out right now, at night, which is almost unbelievable, as it hasn’t been this warm (yes, WARM) in oh, five months.
We had tacos for dinner. I love tacos. I grew up in California. Mexican food always makes me smile.
And… PLUMS are back in stores around here, which means somewhere, they’re in season right now.
But:
I left my ipod and my beloved Eat Love Pray book at the gym tonight, parked on top of one of the lockers, and when I called a few hours later, they didn’t find it. I’m going to assume the positive–that it was placed somewhere for safekeeping and that I’ll get it back tomorrow. But if not, who would steal a book? An ipod, well, at least it has value. But my book? All underlined and happily dog-eared, and not half read?

Yeah, but it’s a good book. If the book doesn’t come back, well, let us hope someone gets something out of it. Maybe they will read it quickly, and return it, because they don’t want to deal with bad karma.
But your iPod? I would be panicking, crying. I would so be upset. I am hoping and praying that one returns to you -
And YAY for tacos!

My mom grew up in California and passed her taco-love on to me and my sister - yummy! I really do hope you get your iPod and book back soon! I lost my wallet once - including my drivers’ license, bank card, card for travelling by train, students’ id .. I was panicking all night long. The next morning, a lady from my university called and said that the shop owner from the other side of the street hat found my wallet had asked her to call me, as she found my students’ id in it.
There are heaps of nice people out there, too!

Somehow it just doesn’t seem right that the book and your ipod wouldn’t make their way back to you. So - I’m thinking they will. Somehow.

i think i would be more upset about the book - it takes effort and love to underline and dog-ear!! My copy of Jane Eyre is like that …sticky notes sticking out of it all over. I would be devestated if I lost it.
I hope you get your stuff back. I am still jealous of your straight hair

Co-sleeping can be wonderful. When you have the physical and emotional resources you can ease him back into his own bed. These little ones go through phases, you know. Sometimes it feels like 3 steps forward two steps back. And it is like this as they gain independance yet still clamour to be a baby at times. These ages and stages are hard on all of us. Rest assured he will not be sleeping in your bed forever. As the weather improves and he’s outside more he’ll probably sleep better overall. Little boys have lots of energy that needs to be used up on a daily basis. After a 12 degree day here my son, who spent the day outside playing, went to bed without any fuss. Amen.
