Back from camping

Perfect weather. Fun in the water. Beach reading. Stone skipping. Sticky marshmallow fingers. Rowdy neighbors (totally annoying.) Stars above us. Campfire smoke in the air. Pancakes with fresh raspberries. Time out on the water canoing. (Bean FELL ASLEEP in the canoe~ twice!) Overall, a wonderful first camping adventure with the little guy.

I’m glad it went well (despite the neighbors–we had one that started yelling at his kids to wake up and get moving just as the sun was rising)! It’s so good to be outside, though here, in Minnesota, we can already sense the shift toward fall. It’s so depressing… so soon!

Aw, man, don’t you hate inconsiderate camper neighbors? We’d had them many times before. We found that the best way to deal with it was to start drinking. Then you get in dorm mode and it’s all one big party.
And Chas is ALWAYS falling asleep in the canoe! I think it’s because we tend to go out in the evenings, after it cools off, after he’s had a full day of, well, ‘Chas.’
Those photographs are so charming and you look so lovely and happy. You should do this more often (at least before it starts getting too cold, which is only weeks away, really; can you believe it?!)

Glad it went well - lovely pics, look at Bean grinning in his camping chair, hehe. And that pancake, mmmmmmmm. BOOO for annoying camp-neighbors.
