Because it’s Monday

Posted on | November 5, 2007 |

And because I can’t eek out anything more than this, I’m wondering what you’re top 10 favorite foods are. Foods you can’t live without. They can be entire dishes–or individual ingredients.

Mine:
pomogranets & mangos
chocolate
coffee
fresh salad (especially with micro greens, sprouts, etc.)
grilled cheese & tomato soup
cheddar, manchego, and chevre
baklava
sushi
french toast + maple syrup
avocados

(not necessarily in that order)

Runners up:
honeycomb
dates
coconut
tom ka (Thai soup)
pad Thai
bacon
omlettes

    It definitely depends on mood for me, too, but off the top of my head, here’s what I’ve got to bring to the party:

    1. Homemade mac and cheese (the way I make it);
    2. Avocados with a little bit of salt;
    3. Fresh, homegrown tomatoes, preferably warm and right off the vine, with nary a rinse;
    4. The Palace Special pizza at Pagliai’s in Iowa City;
    5. A medium-rare steak stopped with portobellos sauteed in olive oil and red wine;
    6. Sushi;
    7. Risotto (and it barely matters what kind of risotto…);
    8. Dolmas;
    9. Single-source honey; and
    10. My Mom’s spaghetti sauce.
