Doing:

Posted on | February 2, 2008 |

* Writing, writing, writing, writing. In my sleep I dream of keystrokes and perfect endings.

* Eating freshly made biscuits, panchetta, and eggs with DH and Bean. Listening to jazz and sipping a cappuccino. A perfect morning.

* Mourning the loss of my two last hens: the weasel came back. My father in law shot him, and despite his beautiful fur, I was gleeful at his death, the bastard. I am still in shock that he killed all six of my chickens.

* Writing. Did I mention writing? Deadline tomorrow. I’ll be heading out west to write with Pam in a week. Thrilled. Giddy. Totally nervous.

* Planning Bean’s third birthday. He’ll be THREE in two weeks. SINCE WHEN???

* Painting with Bean. It was his idea to do the armadillo.

AUGH. He came back! I’m glad your FiL got him, but what an awful episode. Three is nothing…wait until he turns ten on you! It’s unnerving how fast it comes.

My oldest is turning three in just a few weeks too, and it feels like I imagine getting run over by a bulldozer might — a multi-colored, twirling, laughter-infused bulldozer. Good luck with your writing! I’m spectacularly jealous of the workshops you attend, but I can’t wait to read what comes out of them. :)

How sad, to have lost the last two. I hope you’ll try again, that you’ll keep more chickens.

Good luck on your work with Pam Housten. I just got back from the Palm Beach Poetry Festival and am still living on cloud nine, thrilled at having met my absolute most favorite poets.

Oh that weasel. I don’t think we have weasels down here - I’ve never seen one, or heard one talked about in all my farm upbringing. Apparently, they are bad, bad news for sweet little chickens.

Hooray for Bean turning THREE! Oh THREE! And even more hurray for your writing goodness…can’t wait to hear more about it.

Skunks got all eleven of ours, a couple of years ago. Skunks are terrible because they just walk around killing and leaving bodies. Senseless massacre in the animal world.
