I know I promised I’d write more

But it’s been sunny and I’ve been outdoors in the garden. I’ve decided I want to keep a garden journal here–but I’m afraid if I say so, I’ll surely sabatoge my entire attempt. Everything I seem to say I want to do I immediately lose all interest in following through on. Why is that? Anway, I’ve double dug three long beds–and am currently in the midst of digging mounds for squash, watermellons and pumpkins. My legs itch from using the weed-wacker to cut down tall grass at the edges of the garden, and I’m wearing a big floppy white hat.
Why am I posting then, when I claim to be in the midst of gardening? Bean is taking a poop. And dear lord, I still can’t figure out how to teach the boy to wipe himself. So I was summoned from the garden with yells echoing from the bathroom. “Mama! I need to be wiped.” I am sure the neighbors love that.

I always thought saying a thing out loud would hold me to the fire in the follow through department. Reality is: not so much.

In Sweden the little kids yell, “FĂ„RDIG!” when they need a wipe, which means “FINISHED!” It always cracks me up.

My son calls in Swiss “I ha kaki!” (I pooped!) or “I bi fertig!” (I’m finished!) If my nephew is any guide, it takes boys a good long time to learn to wipe themselves.
Lizardek - Between knowing German and understanding the Swiss dialekt I found I was able to muddle through a decent amount of Swedish when I visited friends in Goteborg.

You should check out myfolia.com for a garden journal. It is super easy to use and you can add plants as you feel like it. I am wretched with garden journaling as well. I just want to know what I am growing so that in the future I can look back and remember if it had died or how it did.

Strange! I just posted my first garden post of the year today and hopped over here to see what’s been going on in your corner of the world… Best of luck with yours. I look forward to seeing it grow.
